Choir family & friends day 24/08/19
We always like to involve our families and friends in our social activities. We thought we would take advantage of the lovely weather and have a picnic at Lesnes Abbey. Every one contributed some food.
Family and friends, kids and dogs all came too and of course we had music and singing . We are more than just a choir, we are also a group of friends.
New members are always given a warm welcome .

GDIF Festival Thamesmead 30/6/19
The circus really did come to town. We spent the day with a French acrobatic troupe CompagnieXY whilst they entertained the local community as part of the Greenwich & Docklands International Festival. They were truly amazing to see. We got to know them very well rehearsing their chosen song and watching their rehearsals.
They went out into the community touring Thamesmead all week and performing tricks outside peoples homes. They never spoke to people and did everything with gestures. They created an amazing atmosphere everywhere they went and brought people together.
Our Rock Pop choir were truly honoured to be asked to sing for them. We all had experiences working with them that we will never forget 💖.
See the highlights in this amazing video on our facebook page
We have moved 18/03/2019

Fire Walk 28/10/18
The Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice had a sponsored fire walk to raise funds for the Hospice. The choir started the ball rolling singing some motivational songs, Re light my fire, Don’t stop believing, Get by with a little help from my friends and Flames in video below which we only put in at the last minute!
13 brave volunteers with filled up sponsor forms walked across the hot embers and received their fire-walking certificates. It was all done very professionally and very safely and was great to watch. See fire walking videos in the comments below.

Our Donation To Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice 20/9/2018
|
We are pleased to announce that we have received a payment from The Thamesmead Festival organisers (EmergencyExit Events) for our performance at this years summer festival.
We sing for fun and to raise money for charity when we can so as a group we decided to donate our payment to our local Hospice in Abbey Wood, The Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice. The hospice cares for so many people over 2,500 each year. They provide the much needed care and support not just for the patient but for the carers and family of the patient that extends to helping families navigate the complicated financial issues that arise when a member of the family is terminally ill. The amazing thing is that this care is provided FREE to the patient by some very amazing and caring people. We are proud to be able to add our contribution. |
Lesnes Abbey 24/08/18
So tonight we performed at Lesnes Abbey, we were the opening act before the film at the open air cinema.
The weather was doubtful all day and drizzling when we arrived. As we were due to go on the rain had just stopped, we took off our rain coats to reveal our matching choir T shirts. No sooner had we got started the heavens opened, Not just a spot of rain but a torrent of wind and very heavy rain you could hardly hear us! It lasted all through our set. We had a lightweight gazebo over us and the choir members held on to the sides of it so it didn’t blow away. Our lyric sheets were blowing all over the place and became soggy in the rain. We were not at our best and were all absolutely soaked. Unfortunately our audience was also feeling the effects of the terrible weather and were packing up their chairs and blankets and leaving. A few brave souls did stay on for the film. Full praise to the organisers who were doing a great job and a shame for those who were looking forward to the cinema event. However we battled on, the rain was not going to stop us we had rehearsed for this for weeks! Positive bunch that we are we could see the funny side, It was hilarious like a comedy sketch, This is one performance we will not forget. The choir even though cold and soaked through were all laughing and joking about it and in high spirits afterwards, just goes to show what a great team we all are. Songs we could have sung ........ Singing in the rain. Rainy days and Sundays always get me down. Here comes the rain again. Rain drops keep falling on my head. It’s raining men. Rain. Umbrella. Storm in a teacup. Purple Rain. |

The Thamesmead Festival Event 14/07/18
On Saturday 14/07/18 we performed a 30 minute set of 8 songs at The Thamesmead Festival Event.
We had a few new choir members this time and some were a little nervous as it was their first public performance but once we got started they got into the swing of it all.
We had rehearsed for weeks beforehand and had added a couple of new songs, Our set was.....
Feel It Portugal The Man,
Photograph Ed Sheehan
Take your Mamma Out Scissor Sisters,
Keep Me Hanging On (Kim Wilde Version)
Half A World Away Oasis,
Sweet Talking Guy The Chiffons,
Side Travis,
Somewhere Only We Know. Keane.
This was also the first time we all wore our new Choir T Shirts in navy with our yellow logo on, We all looked very smart.
After our 30 minute set we were joined by The Abbey Wood Community Sound Group complete with drums, guitars and the star turn Harmonica. We did a collaboration of 4 songs with Community Sound who are all about getting their audience involved, They handed out a selection of percussion instruments to the crowd so they could all join in too and the children enthusiastically took up the challenge.
Our collaboration set with Community Sound was....
I can see Clearly Now. Johnny Nash.
Be My Baby. The Ronettes,
Breaking Up Is Hard To Do Neil Sedaka,
Get By With A Little Help From My Friends. The Beetles.
Our audience gave us a great round of applause after every song with several dancing and singing along.
It was a great day and the weather was the best you could hope for.

Rocking out to new songs 20/02/18
We have been busy adding new songs to our already extensive repertoire, choosing Rock and Pop Songs which have had success in the charts. Popular Rock and Pop songs that we enjoy singing make our performances relaxed and lively and encourages our audience to join in.
We try to select songs with parts to suit all our voices. Before any public performance we put in the hard work with extra practice sessions to produce a set that our audience will appreciate. We always add our own little choir twists to give our songs originality. But mainly, we just sing our hearts out and have a lot of fun and a really enjoyable time at every session.
Our latest addition is Mama by Jason Blue, a current chart topping Pop song, in fact a number 1,
In the last few months we have added :-
Be My Baby The Ronettes,
Rain The Script,
Poison Alice Cooper,
Sex On Fire Kings of Leon,
Zombie Cranberries.
You Keep Me Hanging On Kim Wilde,
Mama Jason Blue

The Abbey Arms OAP Christmas Dinner 13/12/17
This annual event for pensioners living locally is organised and funded by the Abbey Arms. We sang some of our favourite Rock and Pop songs and threw in a few Christmas songs for good measure. Our performance was very well received by the impressively lively OAP dinner guests as well as many regulars who came along to support us.
The Greenwich and Bexley Hospice Fundraiser 25/11/17
Big thanks to everyone who came to support the Hospice Fund Raiser, the Christmas Fair, and also to our audience who boosted our confidence with their cheering and clapping. We had a great time singing all our favourite Rock and Pop songs to such an appreciative audience. The NHS contribute only a small amount towards the running of the Hospice, leaving a staggering £5 million to be found by them to continue providing their services free to patients.
We hope the Hospice has raised a good chunk towards their target. We noted the cake stalls were very busy all day! Well done to all the volunteers of the Hospice, you do an amazing job.Funds are generally raised through charity events and fundraisers such as the Christmas Fair. They also have their own lottery with lots of very good prizes. Do check it out; it's definitely worth taking part.
